Health Insurance

Professionals working within Learning & Development for Children are registered providers of psychological and/or speech language pathology services with major health insurance companies. Please contact your health insurance company about benefits provided in your specific policy.


Medicare Funded Items

Deberea is a Medicare Provider for Medical Specialist and General Practitioner Mental Health Care Plan referrals. Please note that Medicare Australia must have received a claim for your GP Mental Health Care Plan or Specialist Medical Practitioner service items before clients can access Medicare funded psychological support services. Medicare benefits are available for a range of specified health conditions.

Professionals and support staff are familiar with the legal and professional requirements relating to privacy and confidentiality that are pertinent to professional practice. These might include but are not limited to the Commonwealth Privacy Act 1988, relevant State Acts, the APS Code of Ethics General Principle III: Propriety, and the Guidelines on Confidentiality (APS Ethical Guidelines – 6th edition).

All personal information gathered during the provision of services will remain confidential and secure. Professionals of Learning & Development for Children will obtain your approval for the following:

Personal information cannot remain confidential if information is subpoenaed by a court, or failure to disclose the information would place your child or another person at risk.


Management of Personal Information

Client files are held in a secure filing cabinet. The information in each file relates to the referral concerns and the provision of specific services. This information is retained in order to direct goals and methods of supportive intervention, and enables a relevant and informed service. At any stage you may request to see the information kept on file. These requests will be responded to within five working days.


Non-Attendance / Late Attendance Policy

There is a wait list at Learning & Development for Children. If services are not attended, appointments are not filled which could have been used to assist other families and children. For this reason, LADFC has a clear policy for non-attendances and late cancellations.

Our Policy:


If a cancellation fee has been charged, you are asked to pay the cancellation fee prior to seeking any further services by LADFC.

In the event of exceptional unforeseen circumstances where the charge of a non-attendance or late cancellation fee is considered to be unreasonable, you are asked to discuss the matter with the professional you are seeing.
